Don’t let your dryer vent be the cause of a fire in your home.

We recomment dryer vents over five feet in length with elbows to be cleaned on a quarterly basis. Those less than five feet cleaned bi-annually. If you have a flexible duct it should be replaced with sheet metal. You are not only reducing the risk of a fire but making the dryer work more efficiently.

And don’t forget to replace the batteries in your smoke detector(s) too!

without the expense of an exterminator.

All you need are 3 items. Small cup, vinegar, and dish soap.

Fill up the cup 1/2 way with vinegar and put dish soap along the top edge of the cup. The gnats are attracted to the smell of the vinegar but end up stuck in the soap. If you do this for about three days consecitively your problem will be gone. Good luck, Im sure you’ll be pleased with the results!

State Requires Mechanical & Microbial License for Duct Cleaning Companies

The State of Michigan requires Duct Cleaners to carry a Mechanical License with classification #3 (Ductwork), a Pesticide Business License and a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License category 5B. The Mechanical License is required for companies cutting into or altering the ductwork for cleaning. If the company is not cutting into or altering the ductwork a license is not required. A Pesticide License is required for the business and the technician applying any deodorizer/sanitation in the ductwork. Verify all licensing and insurance and ask for references for whatever industry you are in need of. you can check online at www.michigan.gov/bcclicense.

We’ve all seen the ads for “Whole House Air Duct Cleaning” for $49.95. Dateline teamed up with the BBB and NADCA, (National Air Duct Cleaners Association) to expose the scam that is really happening. The Better Business Bureau, says it’s a scam called a “bait and switch,” and it’s happening all across the United States. Update 1/28/11 The Dateline segment is rescheduled for this Sunday, January 30 at 7 p.m. EST. Tune in for an hour-long segment that will expose frauds in our industry. NADCA worked with Dateline NBC to expose a scam operation and unethical business practices! NADCA president Buck Sheppard served as the industry expert and might be featured in this report. BUSTED! Scammers Exposed. We’ve all seen the coupons and advertisements promoting “whole neighborhood air duct cleaning for $49.95,” and heard the horror stories from consumers who got taken by these companies. Now the national media is taking notice. NADCA worked with Dateline NBC over the past six months to expose a scam operation and the company’s unethical business practices. Tune in to NBC this Sunday, January 9 at 7 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) for a special two-hour Dateline as reporter Chris Hansen exposes these frauds and helps educate the general public about the HVAC cleaning industry. (Please note that the segment on air duct cleaning will be at the end of the second hour.) NADCA president Buck Sheppard served as the industry expert and will be featured in this report.
